District Type Definitions

Below are the district types currently available in RunningMate.


District Type Definition 
State A geographic area represented by the entire state. 
Congressional A geographic area represented by a member of the U.S. House of Representatives
State House A geographic area represented by a member of a state’s House of Representatives
State Senate A geographic area represented by a member of a state’s Senate
County A geographic area that serves as the primary administrative division within a state
Census School District  A geographic area used for the administration of public schools by a school board - these are typically represented by at-large school board seats.
Place A geographic area that represents a city, town, or other populated area
City Council A geographic area within a city, represented by a member of the city council
Local School District A geographic area used for the administration of public schools by a local school board. These are typically school board seats with a specific geographic boundary within the larger school district.
County Legislative A County Council/County Commission/or other such legislative sub-district of a county
State Education Board A geographic area representing a district of a state’s Board of Education
Judicial Appellate A geographic area representing state Court of Appeals districts
