Route Planner, Canvasser Activity, and Location Tracker

RunningMate's Route Planner and Canvasser Activity and Location Tracker increase the efficiency and impact of door-to-door canvassing.

Route Planner

Route Planner allows users to:

• Choose a starting point: your current location, a specific address, or a household in the packet
• Choose a route: the quickest path or the shortest path
• Get turn-by-turn directions to each house
• See a Google Street View image of each house before arriving

How to plan a route:

1. On a mobile device, click Canvassing in the navigation bar
2. Select your program
3. Select your packet
4. Open Route Planning at the bottom of the screen
5. Choose your starting point:
   1. Your current location
   2. A specific address you enter manually (for example, a park or a volunteer's house where your team is meeting), OR
   3. A household from your packet.
6. Choose your travel method:
   1. Walking (default)
   2. Driving
7. Click Plan Route.

Adjusting Your Route

Once your route is planned, expand the route panel to review it. From here, you can:

• Switch between the Quickest and Shortest route
• Reorder individual stops
• Click Clear Route to start over

Canvassing Your Route

To start canvassing your route:

1. Click Start Route. RunningMate will show you your first stop
2. Talk to the voter and log the result using Start Conversation or Voter Unavailable, then click Submit
3. Move to the next stop. RunningMate will display the address of your next household
   1. Expand the directions to get turn-by-turn directions to the next stop
   2. Click the Google Street View image to see what the house looks like before you arrive
4. Repeat until you've reached every household on your route

Canvasser Activity & Location Tracker

• Account Owners and Admins can now configure whether canvassers are required to share their location before accessing canvassing packets.
  • The setting is available under Settings > Location Tracking and applies across all programs in the workspace.
• Sharing your location with RunningMate shows where you are on the map, which makes it easier to get to your next house

How to enable Canvasser Location Tracking

• Admins can ask canvassers to share their location by going to Settings > Location Tracking. When this setting is on, users cannot open a canvassing packet unless location sharing is turned on
• When location sharing is required, canvassers who have not granted location access will see a prompt to enable it before they can enter a packet.
